Photoshoots can be stressful on families. My job is to make the entire experience enjoyable! Whether I am shooting a newborn or a 5 year old, I guide the shoot with my own plans of how I want to capture your moments, but the child is ultimately in control of how that unfolds.
Before the session:
When you contact us to schedule your session, the first things we need to discuss are your expectations. Are you interested in an outdoor/indoor/studio. After we determine the type of session, we will go over any questions you may have.
Note: There will be an extra charge for studio shoot
When is the best time to shoot?
Sessions can be done at any hour but I find the best light in the early morning, late afternoon or just about an hour before sunset.
What to wear:
Keep it simple! Jeans, khakis, plain colors or subtle patterns work great. Wearing pastel colors or different shades of the same color are great too. Avoid clothing with big logos or images as this can often be distracting. Don’t forget to add fun accessories like jewelries or your child’s favorite toy but most importantly, be comfortable and be yourselves!
During the session:
The session usually starts with the entire family followed by pairs and even individual shots. For the younger ones, it’s always best to shoot before or after their nap time. For outdoor location sessions, I aim to arrive 15 minutes before we begin in order to have a good look around the area and choose the sites with the best lighting and scenery for your portraits. I also set aside some free time for you to play with your child/children so that the moments captured can be natural.
After the session:
After we have finished the session, I usually post a sneak peek preview within a day or two. I’ll post highlights of your session after one week and will give you a link with about 5-10 images for you to download and share with your family and friends. I will deliver your package within a time frame (4-5 weeks) as I do not want to rush through them.
I want to keep my photos private. Can I choose not to have any of my photos posted online but still share them with my family and friends?
Yes, I can provide you with a password for you to view your images online. You can also share this password with your family and friends.
What is in the package? And can I make prints myself?
The package will include your images in a DVD (2 copies). All your images will be in high resolution jpeg format. That means you can use these files to make as many prints as you like.
My children cannot last for 2 hours. Can we do an hour session instead?
Sure. We can arrange an hour session for you and your family. Just let us know.
How many images can I expect in the package?
For a 2 hour session, you can expect about 100+ images in your DVD. They will all be in high resolution jpeg format.
The album/canvas:
If you purchase a photo album or a canvas, you will be given a password to log on to the client proofing site. You will be able to view and select your favourite images that you want printed in your album. Once you are satisfied with the album design, it will be sent to the factory for printing.
What happens if the weather is bad on the day of the shoot?
If the weather is bad, we will schedule your shoot to the next available date that is suitable for both of us.
Don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions at all about your session. I’m happy to go through the details with you and make sure you are comfortable and excited about your photo session.
